Christian calling and vocation
"Consider your call, brethren," was the plea of the Apostle Paul to the Christians of his day. This advice is as relative for the Christians of our day as it was to those of Paul's time. In fact, life takes on new meaning and motivation when we understand that God calls every Christian with a holy calling and for a definite purpose. It also gives a new and deeper appreciation of the diversity of gifts God has bestowed upon man. This gives point and meaning to Peter's admonition, "As each has received a gift, employ it for one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace."
