Debating Richard Gardner
This documentary intersperses interviews with psychiatrist Richard Gardner and interviews with Garland Waller and Joyanna Silberg. In these interviews, all three discuss Gardner's proposed "parental alienation syndrome" or PAS. Gardner claims that PAS is a putative disorder in which children are obsessively preoccupied with depreciation and/or criticism of a parent. Parental alienation syndrome is sometimes used in custody cases involving child sexual abuse in attempts to discredit accusations of abuse
