E.M. Blaiklock : a Christian scholar

Professor Blaiklock was a classical scholar and author of world reknown and an active propagandist for the Christian faith. For twenty-one years he held the Chair of Classics at Auckland University, where he accumulated many academic distinctions and titles. As a classical scholar, he was convinced the Gospels were sound historical documents. Throughout his life he remained a staunch defender of the evangelical faith. He was a leading conservationist, long before protection of the environment caught the popular imagination. A prolific writer of no less than eighty books, he also contributed regularly to learned journals and for many years wrote a popular weekly column for the New Zealand Herald under the nom-de-plume 'Grammaticus'
