Eduardo Kingman Riofrio : 1913-1997
This fourth volume of the series on Master Artists from Ecuador is dedicated to expressionist painter and muralist Eduardo Kingman (b. Loja, Ecuador, 1913-1997), one of Ecuador's most representative exponents of "Social Realism", an art trend that denounces the oppressing reality of the rural and working classes of the 20th century through the combination of revolutionary ideals with the dramatic representation of the human figure. Author Moreno Aguilar presents a detailed biography along a critical and iconographic analysis of Kingman's most emblematic art pieces through critical texts that examine his life and artistic evolution, sometimes influence by other Latin American artists, particularly by Mexican muralists Rufino Tamayo (p. 158) and José Clemente Orozco (p. 242)
