Negative taken of Floyd B. Brown, Founder and President of the Fargo Agricultural School (FAS) in 1942. Floyd Brown was born April 27, 1891 at Stampley, Jefferson County, Mississippi and died September 11, 1961 in the Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas while a resident of Pine Bluff, Jefferson County, Arkansas. He attended Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Macon County, Alabama and Tennessee State College. In 1915, he came to Arkansas selling books to raise funds to finish school. Floyd B. Brown married Lillian Nora Epps. Together they founded the Fargo Agricultural School at Fargo, Monroe County, Arkansas in 1919, which operated until 1949. The school was an African American owned and operated boarding school for African American boys and girls with a flexible curriculum. As a private school, the Fargo Agricultural School was supported by contributions and the sales of its products
