Beauregard, offering him an investment, discussing the purchase of eight monitors at New Orleans from the United States government by Messrs. Shickle, Harrison & Co. [Iron Works], and mentioning possible resale of the vessels to a foreign government on a commission to be shared by Beauregard and himself
