( b West Palm Beach, FL, Aug 26, 1954). American electric guitarist. At first he played rock and blues, inspired in particular by Jimmy Page, the guitarist in the rock group Led Zeppelin. He studied composition and arranging at Florida Atlantic University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana (1972-6), and jazz guitar with Pat Martino and Joe Diorio at the Guitar Institute of Technology in California (1980-81), where from 1983 he was a member of the visiting faculty. In 1984, together with the electric bass guitarist Gary Willis, he formed Tribal Tech, an influential fusion group noted for extending the style developed by Weather Report. The group toured and recorded into the late 1990s. Henderson also toured and recorded with Jean-Luc Ponty (1982-5), Chick Corea (1986-8), and Joe Zawinul (1989-92), among others; he appears in the videos The Chick Corea Elektric Band: Live in Madrid..
