Episode 242 - Computer Chess: In the earliest days of electronic calculation when computers occupied a whole room yet were only as powerful as a modern digital watch, designers dreamt of pitting them against the human mind. When computers ultimately mastered chess they had been easily defeated by chess masters but they kept improving and by the new millennium Frans Morsch had co-developed a system called Deep Fritz. In 2001 an 8 game tournament called Brains in Bahrain would pit Deep Fritz against Russian grand master Vladimir Kramnik who had just become the Classical World Chess Champion
