Inspection errors for attributes in quality control
This book provides a comprehensive survey of most recent methodology, developed by the authors during the last decade, both theoretical and applied, regarding the statistical analysis and detection of defective ('non-confirming') items in various types of inspection for attributes, when the inspection itself is subject to error. (This error can be of two kinds: false- positive, non-defective as defective, and false-negative, classifying defective as non-defective). The authors pay special attention to group testing or screening procedures originated by R. Dorfman for errorless care during World War II. There are sections on the estimation of probabilities of inspection errors, both false-positive and false-negative and these are based on observations of items in the production line. Methods of searching for defective items in the presence of inspection errors are also described
