Ivey and Crook Collection 1919-1967
The Ivey & Crook collection is composed solely of architectural plans, both those of Ivey & Crook as a firm (1923-1967), and those designed by Ernest "Ed" Ivey alone (1919-1923). The collection covers the spectrum of Ivey & Crook's work, comprising academic, church, residential, and commercial building designs. The majority of these designs reflect the eclecticism of the Beaux Arts movement, which was fashionable in the early twentieth century when Ivey and Crook began their training and careers in architecture. Some of the plans in the collection are collaborations with former employers Hentz, Reid & Adler, and reflect the continuity between the two firms' classically-inspired designs. Each plan was accorded a job number (74-688), and includes the name of the individual/organization for whom the plan was designed, location and type of structure, and the date of commission. Plans in the collection primarily represent projects completed in the Greater Atlanta area and Georgia, but some jobs outside of Georgia are also included
