MDC Guaynabo Puerto Rico
MDC Guaynabo is a 8-story high rise jail facility located on a 10 acre parcel of land in downtown Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. MDC Guaynabo is the first Federal Bureau of Prisons' facility located outside the continental United States. Warden Larry Cox describes the MDC he heads where there are 320 staff positions. The detention center houses both male and female pre-trial detainees and a small INS contingent. This video provides a history of Puerto Rico as well as the living conditions in Guaynabo for families seeking to live there. Puerto Rico is an island commonwealth with a culture of people accustomed to their tropical rain forest, mountains, beaches, and 80-degree climate. Also discussed are Guaynabo's narrow streets, conjested traffic, and the cost of housing and taxes. The Antilles school system where children of Bureau families attend is run by the Ft. Buchanan Army Base
