In three episodes, each following a different couple: Giovinezza (youth): Roberto and Sara (Riccardo Scamarcio and Valeria Solarino); Maturita (maturity): Fabio and Eliana (Carlo Verdone and Donatella Finocchiaro); Oltre (beyond): Adrian and Viola (Robert De Niro and Monica Bellucci). The characters in the film are all related. The film is set in Castiglione della Pescaia and in Rome. Roberto is a young and ambitious lawyer who is going to marry Sara. His whole life is perfectly planned out. During a expropriation which he is in charge of, he meets Micol, a gorgeous and provocative young woman from a small village in Tuscany.
