Paul Devens. Waving platforms
This first in-depth publication a hybrid zine and artists book on the work of internationally recognized Dutch sound-artist, architect and designer Paul Devens activates our perception of everyday audible environments. Working in installations with sonic and architectural elements, electro-acoustic performances and video screenings, Devens plays homemade, circuit-bent instruments whose spatial and sonic qualities make us question what we are actually hearing. His waving platforms attempt to hear and capture for a second what our underlying social network actually sounds like. To facilitate a flanked reading experience of text and image, the content is gathered into two flip-like booklets contained within one binding with Devens works on top and theory and texts below.
