The tomato patch murder : GA v. Crowder
Billy Crowder of Lidowici, GA was charged with the shooting murder of grandfather, Thurman Martin, as well as taking money from the body and burying body in tomato patch. Trial brought out a history of brutal treatment of family by grandfather, known in the community but ignored. Grandson convicted of manslaughter for which he was given 5 years in prison, and a life sentence for armed robbery. The remainder of the family were enventually convicted and incarcerated for various crimes related to the murder
