Tim; a novel
Tim Melville can only be described as beautiful - twenty-five, but mentally retarded, he works as a laborer, sheltered by his aging parents. Mary hires him as a gardener and, taken with his innocence, begins to teach him to read and write. Their relationship is an idyll, but when Tim's parents die and his sister's ugly accusations threaten their happiness, Mary decides on an unusual solution - one that will alienate society but will give them the chance to find fulfillment. --Book jacket
