Tomato patch murder
Billy Crowder and his stepfather were charged with murdering Crowder's 64-year-old grandfather, Thurman Martin, by shooting him in the head as he was sleeping. The defendants buried Martin in the back yard, planting tomatoes on his grave. The defense contends that the murder was in retaliation for the years of emotional abuse they and their deceased grandmother had silently endured
