Big city blues

The actual plot of this film is a reconstruction of an inconspicuous newspaper item. It dealt with a senseless attack on a young girl in the concrete skeleton of an unfinished building, which resulted in her falling to her death. It was an occurance on which the reading public hardly dwelled for a moment, but which is symptomatic of the continual repetition of crime and misery. The picture is inspired by the blues, the expression not only of resignation to the inexorability of misfortune, but also of compassion and sympathy. Awards: International Film Festival, Edinburgh
