Daddy hunger
Ray Upchurch (Narrator, Producer), Thomas Drayton (Producer), Daddy Hunger, Inc (Firm), Fitzgerald Media Partners
This documentary addresses the question of absent fathers in the African American home and community. Ray Upchurch did not meet his biological father until he was 41, and that experience led him to this documentary, as part of a larger campaign to understand that absent fathers leave more behind than single mothers and fatherless children. They leave behind part of themselves, and this film argues that it should be--and can be--recovered. In interviews and original poetry, men and women who had to rely on the cold harsh world to teach them the things that only a father should teach tell their stories and reflect on the presence of absence in their lives
