The integrated graphics system for the S-C 4060 : II. System programmer's guide
A description of the S-C 4060 version of RAND's Integrated Graphics System (IGS), a machine- and device-independent software package. The S-C 4060 stored-program graphical recording system consists of a small special-purpose computer, called the Product Control Unit (PCU); a high-precision cathode ray tube (CRT); a camera; a film developer; a hardcopy unit. IGS is programmed in FORTRAN IV, with special facilities for manipulating a single character in any position. IGS can be called by programs in FORTRAN, PL/I, and SIMSCRIPT, as well as machine language. On command, it draws lines and circles, plots points, composes text and tables with headings, and creates linear or nonlinear graphs. One subroutine draws an entire graph to fit given data, with a single call. Only parameters of interest need to specified; IGS automatically provides default values for character size, spacing, line spacing, and other format details. IGS accepts user coordinates and translates them into internal units. It automatically rescales graphical data to fit available space, and converts graphical to numerical data
